We're Going to the Zoo on April 30th!

It was wonderful to meet with you and your student during conferences!
As you know, students will be writing animal reports, and recently came up with the idea of visiting the zoo to gather more facts about their animals.  Last week, each student wrote a persuasion letter to our dear principal, Mrs. Guynes, to request a field trip to the zoo. Students supplied convincing arguments or points in their letters and Mrs. Guynes wrote back to each student stating that she would consider their request. On Friday, she visited both third grade classrooms to deliver the good news: as a result of students' persuasion letters, we have been approved to take a field trip to the zoo! Students are learning about the power of words and persuasion!

All third graders will be taking a field trip to the zoo on Thursday, April 30th. In your student's backpacks, there is a field trip permission slip. The admission fee is $4. Please return the permission slip and money as soon as possible. Our class will be able to bring six chaperones. If you would like to volunteer, please fill out the chaperone slip in your student's backpack.

A reminder regarding third grade state assessments: Beginning tomorrow, students will be taking the English Language Arts Performance Task portion of the Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium (SBAC) at 9:00 a.m.  Please make sure your child has a good night's sleep,  a healthy breakfast, and arrives to school on time so they can do their best.

Thank you for your support!
